My Global Food Challenge

Sicily

Sicily, Ok, again not a county, although some Italians may think so.  I was watching the “Sicilian Slam Dunk” episode of Rachael Ray’s 30 minute meals and she was doing an ode to Sicily.  What she said about cooking a meal from another country really resonated with me, as someone who always travels with a camera and lots of gear.  In essence, cooking a meal is like a scrapbook.  Instead of photographs eliciting memories through visual cues, food can conjure up past experiences through multiple sensory pathways.

Even though Italy is still a week away, I snuck in two of these recipes from Sicily, including a tapenade reminiscent of a puttanesca.
