 Zip Facts about Saint Lucia:

  •  Saint Lucia, part of the Lesser Antilles, is one on the most mountainous Caribbean islands, and is the second largest of the Windward Islands
  • The Gros Piton and Petit Piton are twin volcanic peaks that rise out of the Caribbean Sea
  • December 13th is Saint Lucy’s day, also the winter’s solstice or the shortest day of the year.  Saint Lucia was named after the saint, a Christian martyr in Sicily in 310AD by French colonizers
  • Saint Lucia Jazz Festival in May is their biggest festival and it draws many famous international jazz artists
  • Amazona Versicolor, Jacquot, or the St. Lucia Parrot, is the national bird of St. Lucia, native only to these islands.  St. Lucia was once known as the “Island of the Iguanas”
