Zip Facts about Trinidad and Tobago:

  • The Tobagonians and Trinidadians or Trinis are sometimes referred to as “Trinbagonians”
  • It is believed that the novels “Robinson Crusoe” and “Treasure Island” were both based on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago
  • “Together we aspire, together we achieve” is their national motto
  • Here’s what Trinidad and Tobago gave the world: carnival, calypso, chutney, limbo, the largest brain coral (off Tobago), the steel pan (an instrument, not a cooking utensil) and the Trinidad Piping Guan (looks a little like a turkey)
  • If someone offers you a Trinidad Moruga “Scorpion” Pepper, you might want to pass, the Guinness Book of Records has ranked it as the world’s hottest pepper
