Maltese-Inspired Meatballs (Malta)

This meatball recipe is inspired by a meatloaf dish. As usual, I took a bit of license.

Yield: 6-8 Servings


1-1/2 lbs ground beef
1 medium onion, minced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon coriander
1 egg
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp sweet or smoked paprika
1 tbsp oregano
salt and pepper to taste
bread crumbs


Combine the beef and all ingredients (except breadcrumbs).  Mix the ingredients thoroughly with your hands but do not overwork the meat, adding breadcrumbs to desired consistency to shape meatballs.  Fry or bake meatballs according to your preference.
